Troop Meeting | Personal Fitness MB | Citizenship in Community MB

 Hello Troop 1!

Tomorrow night we'll meet at 6:30-8 at Minnehaha United Methodist Church, as usual.  The Philmont crew will be returning on Monday, and may or may not be able to join us.  For that reason, I think we should have our Lake Nokomis swim meeting next week, on June 30, when more scouts can attend.

Tomorrow, scouts will have a couple of activities to choose from:

First, I'm very excited to start any scouts who are interested on the Personal Fitness merit badge.  This is an eagle-required merit badge, and covers not just physical fitness, but social, mental, and physical health/disease prevention.  We'll cover a lot of the content, and talk about the 12-week fitness and nutrition program that each scout will design for themselves for this badge.  Summer is a great time to work on this, as scouts have more free time and access to all of the activities we can do outside at this time of year.  Even if scouts choose to start their 12-week fitness program later on, this is a good time to learn more about the subject understand what's involved, and knock off some of the requirements.

Secondly, we have a new merit badge counselor in Troop 1!  James Clysdale, who is also  Agnes's dad and Pack 1 Cubmaster, has registered to teach all 4 (eagle-required) Citizenship merit badges, as well as the Snow Sports merit badge.  Tomorrow he can start scouts who are interested on the Citizenship in Community merit badge.  Interested scouts can learn more about how to help their own community and participate as a good, active citizen.

See you tomorrow!
