Troop Meeting Monday 18:30-20:00 - Link sent in Email.
Have some rope handy. We'll review a couple knots from last week and learn a few more. We'll also be working on advancement. We have to review some things from last time to test for mastery and then we'll sign off on Scoutbook. I'll also be doing some SM conferences.

Health Forms

Please complete Health Forms parts A & B and send two copies to Val Mayer at vjmayer14@msn.com.

Scouts heading on any camp this year longer than a weekend will need Part C (annual physical) as well which must be completed by a physician.

Superior Hiking Trail (non-Philmont Crew)

Are you interested in getting out on the Superior Hiking Trail this summer but you're not part of the Crew training for Philmont? Provided there's enough interest we can have a second (or third) crew on the SHT this summer. Crew(s) can determine their route, duration, and dates.
Learn more about the SHT here.

Summer Camp

Camp Many Point

It's time to decide if you're planning to attend Many Point Summer Camp with the troop - which I hope you all do, it's going to be magic! Please discuss with your family and make a plan to attend. We'll be at Many Point from August 15-21. We'll be in Voyaguer Sub Camp, Two Harbors Campsite. We'll be using wall tents, and cooking all of our own food in camp. Many Point is a truly magical week. All scouts should plan to attend. It's the highlight of summer.

Please fill out this form by March 1

We need to make a deposit and start planning transportation, etc.
Adults, as always, if you can spend part (or all) of your week with us, or just help with transporting scouts drive up or back, that'd be awesome. Please consider it. We'll work on transportation later, but know that it's about a 5-hour drive one way, so plan to stay at least one night... Many Point is located near Ponsford MN, very close to the Mississippi Headwaters.

Scoutmaster's Minute

Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was only a few meters from the finish line, but got confused with the signs and stopped, thinking he had finished the race. BA Spanish man, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him and, realizing what was going on, started shouting to the Kenyan to keep running. Mutai did not know Spanish and did not understand.

Realizing what was going on, Fernandez pushed Mutai to victory.

A reporter asked Ivan, "Why did you do this?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that one day we can have some sort of community life where we push ourselves and also  others to win."

The reporter insisted "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win. The race was his."

The reporter insisted and asked again, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him and replied: "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of this medal? What would my Mother think of it?" The values are transmitted from generation to generation. What values do we teach our children and how much do you inspire others to earn? Most of us take advantage of people's weaknesses instead of helping to strengthen them.

IT'S BEEN A TOUGH YEAR. WE'VE ALL BEEN TRYING HARD, LET'S REMEMBER TO PUSH ONE ANOTHER TO THE FINISHING LINE. WE ALL DESERVE VICTORY.
