Troop Meeting Monday

We will have a troop meeting Monday night. 6:30pm-8:00pm.

The PLC has planned some solid meetings around a musical theme. We'll be doing some skills work at 6:30, learning about the Simpl Soups fundraiser 7:00pm (see Ann Wempner's email), and then doing some instrument show and tell for the remainder of the meeting (please fill out the form if you play an instrument).

Simpl Soups Fundraiser (Troop Fundraiser)
As a replacement for car washes and pancake breakfasts that aren’t happening at this time, we are trying a new delicious and easy fundraiser for our troop, and it starts tomorrow!

STEPS:
*Starting April 5, personalize the email text sent by Ann Wempner and send it to your family and friends who are within the large delivery area (p2 of pdf), and be sure to include the pdf linked, "Simpls Delicious Soups". (To remove formatting of text in email, copy text and paste into word or text editor, then copy and paste into new email.)

*Post the www.simpls.com website link along with promo code BST1 to social media accounts

*Remind friends and family they can order as many times as they like from April 5 to May 2.

Notes: There is a minimum order of 2 quarts of soup. Delivery is $5, but is free with a $60 purchase. Our troop will earn $4 for each quart of soup purchased. They also have some yummy sides like soft pretzels and cookies.

Free Camp Physicals & Health Forms

Anybody camping more than a weekend must have a BSA health form with parts ABC. Part C is the "physical" which needs to be filled by a professional. Check with your health ins, usually an annual physical is free. If not there is a great free option provided by Dr. Tashjian and crew of volunteer Doctors. They will provide Free Physicals for Summer Camp on May 8, 2021 from 9am to 3pm at Base Camp.

You'll need to register ahead of time, ASAP to secure a spot.

Scoutmaster's Minute

Brave or Afraid
Who is more brave - the Tenderfoot that walks to the latrine on a campout at 2am or the Life Scout that rescues a drowning little 6 year old?

Bravery doesn't really depend on the Task being done. It depends on the internal challenge overcome to perform the task. That Tenderfoot may have been very brave to walk all alone in the pitch black to the latrine instead of chickening out and using the bushes right next to his tent. That Life Scout may have had no concerns with going into 5 feet of water.

A good definition of Bravery is: "a quality of spirit that enables you to face danger of pain without showing fear."

Being brave is not being unafraid - quite the opposite; fear and bravery go hand in hand. When you are afraid and can still do what needs to be done, now THAT is being brave.

Whether that is saving someone in danger, sticking up for a new kid at school, or telling someone about your beliefs - there are many situations where you can be brave or cowardly. You find out a lot about who you really are when you find yourself in those situations.

One of the bravest things I ever did was getting up the nerve to turn the lights off in my bedroom as a kid, but that's another story. :-)
