Hello Troop 1!
Tomorrow night we have a few activities planned for our Troop meeting, 6:30-8 at Minnehaha United Methodist Church.
First, we will have a special guest coming to talk to us about an opportunity to attend the National Jamboree with a contingent from our council next summer (2026).
Jamboree is a national scouting event held every 4 years, where scouts and select adult volunteers travel from all across the nation to Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, to participate in 10 days of scouting activities, shows, and adventures. The Northern Star Council is putting together a troop for this trip, consisting of scouts and volunteers from across our area. V Paul will help Troop 1 learn more about this opportunity, and will have some additional information for parents after the presentation to the scouts. Scouts and parents of scouts who may be interested are encouraged to join us.
After we learn about Jamboree, as Scoutmaster of the girls' troop, I'd like to take some time with our new Melted Marshmallow / Troop 5001 girls to get to know each other and to talk about scouting together. We'll break out from the larger troop meeting and find a place to chat together. Girls, please join us if you can. Parents are of course also welcome.
Meanwhile, the main planned activity for the night is to do trash cleanup on 50th Street. We try to do this at least once a year to keep our neighborhood looking nice and also earn some service hours. The boys' troop can get started on this after we learn about Jamboree. Bring gloves and a trash bag if you can, we'll also have some on hand that you can use.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow night!
